Crush Procrastination Once and for All

I have experienced a significant amount of procrastination over the last two years(a related post published a year ago), which has been both frustrating and disappointing. What’s surprising is that I rarely experienced procrastination when it came to studying during my school years. But now, faced with different challenges, I’ve found myself stuck in cycles of delay and avoidance, and I’m truly disappointed in myself for letting it happen.

However, through this experience, I’ve come to understand that procrastination isn’t about laziness. It’s a symptom of something deeper, and to break free from its grip, I had to take a closer look at what was really going on…

Procrastination is a symptom, not the root cause. It’s not laziness most of the time. The possible reasons behind procrastination often stem from:

  1. Complexity of the task → leading to feelings of being overwhelmed.
  2. Simplicity of the task → leading to boredom and lack of engagement.
  3. Meaninglessness of the task → feeling disconnected from your goals or values.

Procrastination is actually the brain’s way of trying to protect us from stress or discomfort. When faced with an overwhelming task, the brain seeks to avoid the pain associated with effort or failure by distracting us. However, this…
