After brainstorming, writing proposals, and revising proposals a thousand times, you finally need to present your work in public. But how to make a good presentation that your audience will feel inspiring and beneficial is not that easy. I have attended some confirmation meetings through Zoom. I found myself could not follow their speech. One classmate presented with 95 pages of PPT full of text and complicated graphs in 40 minutes. I think I’d better find resources to learn about public speaking. My previous presentations were not bad based on the reaction of the audience, so I also want to know what actually makes them good or bad.
I think these three Ted Talks are really inspiring, and I would like to apply the key concepts in my future speeches. Although they are not for academic presentations specifically, I think they share a lot in common, especially when you want to explain a complex idea to someone who knows nothing about your research.
