I can’t live without Amazon. As I buy many products, I receive many packages from Amazon. You have no idea how expensive the packaging materials can be. So I keep the Amazon boxes and poly mailers to deliver my 3D prints.

1. Factors influencing shipping cost
(1) Distance
Currently, there are only two categories at my Esty store. Domestic or International. Since the international fee is much higher than domestic ones, only higher price item was sold to American customers. So, if I want to sell globally, expensive items which are popular in overseas markets are target items to create.
(2) Dimension
As my current 3d prints are all very small, I don’t have to optimise the package size yet.
(3) Carrier
In Australia, the go-to one is Australia Post. But I did notice the addresses of the American customers are USPS verified. If I have more international orders, I will check this out.
(4) Packaging
The boxes and the poly mailers are expensive since my products are cheap items. A $2 poly mailer is 10% of a $20 item, on top of a $9.7 shipping fee and 10% of the platform fee. This is why I kept using packages from Amazon, zero cost for now. I used them…
