When I went to Japan in 2015, around 10 years ago, I had only a vague impression of the country before visiting. I wanted to travel to Japan because I loved manga, anime, and Japanese TV dramas. I visited popular tourist spots like Tokyo Tower and Fushimi Inari Taisha, but in hindsight, I feel my experience was quite superficial.
Over the years, as I cultivated hobbies like practicing karate and later visited Japan for the third time at Kawaguchi Dojo on Mt. Mitsumine in Saitama Prefecture, I gained a deeper understanding of the culture.
It’s not just about the landmarks — it’s about the spirit behind them.
In recent years, although I live and study in Australia, I’ve fallen in love with Japanese restaurants, cafes, and ice cream here. I am a huge fan of places in the city like Shiro, Kotosanpo, and Beppin.
